The Choir

Curriculum

The Laeti Cantores Choir association was founded in January 1992 within a choir music guidance course held at Castiglione Tinella (Cuneo).

From 1996 its registered seat has been established in Canelli (Asti) Via 1° Maggio Nr. 60 and the group was given the name of Laeti Cantores.

Nowadays the Choir counts about twenty elements divided among the sectors soprano, contralti, tenors and basses.

The Choir's activity ranges mostly over polyphonic sacred music sung "a cappella". A particular care is given to the formation of the repertoire, which includes pieces of rare performance.

The Group took part to different music reviews and gave numerous concerts. In 1999 it gave its artistic contribution to the CD "PATER NOSTER", produced by Happy Master Record of Montecarlo recording the piece "Laudate Dominum" by Oreste Ravanello.

The Choir actively participates in the various initiatives promoted by the Sacred Music Diocesan School "Don Aurelio Puppo" of Acqui Terme (Alessandria). Among its many performances the group is involved in the "Echi di Cori" review organized every year by the Province of Asti. It also takes part in the historical celebration The Siege of Canelli 1613, including pieces of that period in its repertoire.

The Group took part, in November 2002, at the IInd International Advent & Christmas Songs Festival in Budapest (Hungary).

From the year of foundation the Choir Laeti Cantores has been directed by M° Orietta Lanero.
